Subsidiary School "Vasil Drumev” is one of those schools entering the 21 century with the enlightening spirit and traditions of its patron - writer, enlightening, clergyman Vasil Drumev. The school is the successor of two subsidiary schools in Shumen - boarding “Cyril and Methodius” and “Vasil Drumev”. Today it is among the largest schools for children with special educational needs - with a capacity for  300 children. 

The Resource Center In the town of Shumen was opened to support the integrated education of children with special educational needs. It is one of 28 centers across the country that operate at district level.

DDMU "Kalinka" is a specialized institution providing social services for children with disabilities from 3 to 18 years outside of the normal home environment, the system of MLSP, ASA. It is a home of 50 children with mental disabilities.
